A Heartwarming Story! Wolf That Rescuers Thought Was A Dog Saved From Freezing River In Estonia A wolf, first thought to be a dog, is warming hearts everywhere after being rescued this morning from a freezing river in  Estonia ,  a country in  Northern Europe . The heroic rescuers, reportedly named Robin Sillamae and Rando Kartsepp, were working nearby when they noticed the distressed animal in the Parnu River. After pulling the wolf, who was described as exhausted, hypothermic, and frozen,” from the icy water, the kind-hearted men covered the animal in a blanket and placed it in their car to warm up. The  Estonian Union for the Protection of Animals (EUPA) ,  which received the call for “help with a dog that might be a wolf,” shared the news on its  Facebook  page ; admitting that the situation presented a bit of a challenge. Fortunately, the young men who saved the wolf were able to drive...

It Won’t Be A Lovefest For Democrats And Silicon Valley in 2020

It Won’t Be A Lovefest For Democrats And Silicon Valley in 2020 When Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) announced her candidacy for the 2020 Democratic Party presidential nomination, she did something that would have been unheard of in previous election cycles: She explicitly criticized Silicon Valley’s big technology companies. “For too long the big tech companies have been telling you, ‘Don’t worry! We’ve got your back!’ while your identities are being stolen and your data is mined,” Klobuchar said. She isn’t the only Democrat running for president with a critique of Big Tech. In fact, every major 2020 Democratic presidential candidate has issued some form of statement critical of the industry or introduced legislation that would crack down on its most abusive practices. That’s a huge shift for a party whose leaders have spent the last 30 years basking in the glow of the valley’s mythology of innov...

R. Kelly Bond Set At $1 Million As Officials Share New Details Of Alleged Abuse The singer met one of his alleged victims while signing an autograph outside his last trial on child pornography charges, officials said. An Illinois judge set R. Kelly ’s bond at $1 million on Saturday, one day after the singer was charged with 10 counts of criminal sexual abuse for incidents that allegedly occurred between 1998 and 2010. Kelly, 52, showed up for his first court appearance since turning himself in to authorities Saturday morning with attorney Steve Greenberg, who told the judge his client was not a flight risk.  “Contrary to the song, Mr. Kelly doesn’t like to fly,” Greenberg said in a reference to one of Kelly’s biggest hits,  per The Associated Press . The judge called the charges against Kelly, which involve four alleged victims ― three of whom were under age 17 at the time ― “disturbing.”  Afterward, Cook County State’s Attorney Kimber...

Sign Petition For A South Carolina Breed-Specific Bill To Encourage Spay & Neuter For ALL Pets Not Only Pit Bulls

Image
If a bill that was recently introduced in  South Carolina  passes into law, the owners of  pit bulls  and dogs perceived to be pit bulls will have to pay a hefty  $500  fee to register and microchip dogs that haven’t been spayed or neutered. Those who don’t pay the fee will face a fine of up to  $1,000  and up to a year in prison. Encouraging dog owners to spay or neuter their pets is a good idea. About  3.3 million dogs  enter animal shelters in the  United States  every year, and about  670,000  of them don’t make it out alive. Shelter overpopulation is one of the reasons  Rep. Chip Huggins  (R-Lexington County) introduced  Bill 3709  in January. Spaying and neutering pets is one way to help resolve this issue. But one of the problems with  Bill 3709  is that it singles out certain dogs based entirely on their looks. It defines a “pit bull” as “a dog that is an American pit bul...
